Sam Komlenic

PA whiskey historian, consultant for Barrel 21 Distillery

Sam Komlenic grew up in the shadows of the great rye whiskey distilleries of western Pennsylvania’s Monongahela River valley, home to the Whiskey Rebellion of 1791. He is always researching the distilling history of Pennsylvania, with a particular interest in the S. Dillinger & Sons distillery, still standing in his hometown of Ruffs Dale.  He focuses on the production aspects of the state’s 19th and 20th century distilleries.

He now lives in central Pennsylvania where he does consultation work for Barrel 21 Distillery in Bellfonte, Pa.  He is also on the board of West Overton Museum and maintains the integrity of its connection to PA distilling history. Sam is a staunch supporter of the preservation of Pennsylvania’s distilling traditions and history.
